BACOLOD City – A two-storey building was destroyed while the adjacent building was damaged by a fire at Barangay 20 here last Tuesday.
Chief Inspector Publio Ploteña, city fire marshal, said the fire broke out in the second floor of the two-storey building around 9:24 a.m.
Ploteña said the building was a mixed-use structure. The second floor was used as a residential area, where the building owner and the family were staying, and the first floor was rented to businesses.
Ploteña said the building was made of mixed concrete and light materials, but its floor was already dilapidated.
He said they were looking into an overheated electrical installation as the probable cause of the fire.
The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) declared “fire out” around 9:46 a.m.
Ploteña said the fire gobbled P150,000 worth of properties. No one was injured.
