Fire gobbles three houses in Valladolid

BACOLOD City – A fire razed three houses at Purok Dapdap, Barangay Poblacion, Valladolid, Negros Occidental on Wednesday night.
Senior Fire Officer 2 (SFO2) Andrew Demisana, officer-in-charge of Valladolid Municipal Fire Station, said the fire broke out around 6:33 p.m. in the kitchen of the house owned by Consolacion Belario.
Demisana said that they are looking into an unattended rice cooker as the cause of the blaze.
Demisana said that Belario and her companion, who is bed-ridden, were able to flee from the burning house.
The fire also damaged two neighboring houses. All three houses were made of light materials.
Demisana said that no injuries were reported.
He, however, said that they had difficulty penetrating the area at first because of the narrow passage and one of the fire engines also malfunctioned.
Fortunately, firefighters from neighboring areas also responded and helped them put out the fire.
Firefighters quelled the fire at around 9:30 p.m.
