Around 100 stalls at the Leon Public in R. Tabiana Street, Leon, Iloilo were gutted by an afternoon fire on July 18, 2020.
The projection of affected stall owners were from the local police station while the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP)-Leon estimated that more than 80 stalls were razed to the ground.
The fire was reported at 4:45 pm Saturday and quickly gutted around 30 percent of the market.
The blaze was put under control at around 6 pm.
In a radio interview, Fire Officer 2 John Anthony Triveles, BFP-Leon arson investigator, said they are still investigating the origin of the fire since the area where the incident happened was stocked with plastic ware and ready-to-wear items.
BFP-Leon has yet to make official an estimated damage to property, but the local police pegged the losses at P10 million.
