Filipino pug Michael Dasmariñas is set to dazzle the boxing world on June 19 against the WBA and IBF bantamweight king Naoya Inoue of Japan.
Hailed as the heavy underdog by most boxing analysts, Dasmariñas is currently in the famous Wild Card boxing gym to wrap up his final preparations against Inoue.
According to Art Monis, Dasmariñas’ manager, the hard-hitting boxer is already at 90 percent when it comes to conditioning and is close to where they want him to be.
Monis also revealed that Dasmariñas had a ton of challenging sparring practices with top boxers like Juanito Paredes, Ken Jordan, Carl Jammes Martin, KJ Cataraja, and Charly Suarez.
Dasmariñas is currently holding a 30-2-1 with 20 knockouts while the Japanese champion holds an untainted 20-0 record with 17 knockouts.
As of now, another Filipino rising star Mark Magsayo is accompanying Dasmariñas at the Wild Card gym and is hoping to get some advice from the recently crowned WBC bantamweight champion Nonito “The Filipino Flash” Donaire.
