Filipino game developers secured USD 4.87 million in confirmed and potential sales at Gamescom 2025, the world’s largest gaming trade fair held in Cologne, Germany.
The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) said these sales leads include prospective publishing deals, outsourcing contracts, and co-production projects that could bring new investments, generate high-value jobs, and open global opportunities for Filipino talent.
The Philippine delegation was organized by the DTI’s Export Marketing Bureau (EMB) and the Philippine Trade and Investment Center–Berlin, in partnership with the EU-funded ARISE Plus Philippines project.
The group engaged in business-to-business meetings with top publishers, investors, and outsourcing firms from Europe, Japan, the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), South Korea, and the United States.
“Gamescom 2025 proved to be a game-changer for the country’s game development industry,” said DTI-EMB Assistant Director Maria Katrina D. Rivera.
“The B2B engagements during the fair allowed Philippine studios to forge partnerships that will propel our industry forward,” Rivera added.
Commercial Counselor Nicanor Bautista highlighted deepening relations with German industry leaders, saying, “The enthusiastic response from European partners underscores the Philippines’ competitive edge in game development services, paving the way for deeper collaborations and investments that will benefit both nations.”
ITC ARISE+ Project Manager Camille Roy said the collaboration demonstrates how international partnerships drive sustainable growth for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in emerging creative sectors.
Six studios represented the Philippines at the event: Neun Farben, Ranida Games, Animation Vertigo, GameOps, Yangyang Mobile, and the Game Developers Association of the Philippines (GDAP).
The studios exhibited Filipino innovation and talent in both the Business Hall and Indie Zone, further cementing the country’s global reputation in creative digital content.
