ROXAS CITY, Capiz – A Filipino-Arabian tried to commit suicide while detained at the Roxas City police station Saturday.
Fellow inmates found Raniel Joshua Sultan with his left wrist bleeding. He allegedly cut his wrist with the sharp edge of the comfort room’s concrete wall.
The victim was jailed for violation of Republic Act No. 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drug Act of 2002) in December 2019 after he was caught in a buy-bust operation in Brgy. Banica here.
Police called the Capiz Emergency Response Team that immediately treated Sultan.
He allegedly tried to commit suicide after his Capiceña wife failed to visit him at the police station.
According to the police, visits to inmates involved in the illegal drug trade were temporarily suspended after contrabands were recovered in a surprise Oplan Galugad on the jail cells.
