Filipina-American Mixed Martial Artist (MMA) Jackie Buntan is ready to grab the biggest opportunity of her young ONE Fighting Championship career.
On June 24, 2025, the biggest MMA fighting promotion in Asia confirmed that Buntan will fight against Austria’s Stella Hemetsberger for the vacant ONE Women’s Strawweight Muay Thai World title this coming September 5, 2025, at the legendary Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.
Buntan will look to etch her name in the ONE FC history book to become one of the promotion’s two-sport queens. Before accepting the fight, she had already held the strawweight kickboxing championship title, having defeated Anissa Meksen on November 8, 2024.
The efficient striker displayed one of her best-hitting clinics in ONE FC, scoring a unanimous decision victory over Meksen to cap off 2024 with a momentum-boosting four-fight winning streak.
Before outlasting Meksen, Buntan got the better of Martine Michieletto, Diandra Martin, and Amber Kitchen to quickly earn a title fight.
Buntan had her first world title fight on April 22, 2022, but Smilla Sundell of Sweden proved to be the more experienced fighter and dragged the showdown to a unanimous decision dub.
Little did they know that that loss would serve as fuel for Buntan, as she has yet to pick up a single loss since December 3, 2022, and has been on a red-hot streak.
Awaiting Buntan in the iconic Lumpinee Stadium come fight night is one of the most skilled MMA fighters Austria has ever produced.
Despite only fighting three times in ONE FC, Hemetsberger had the proof to show that she deserved the title shot with a clean 3-0 win-loss record.
After back-to-back unanimous decision wins, Hemetsberger bagged the biggest win of her career when she knocked out Vanessa Romanowski in the first round two months ago.
This will be a tough test for Buntan, as Hemetsberger is coming off a fresher ONE FC schedule with only a two-month gap of rest.
“I always said 2 sport world champion is the goal,” Buntan posted hours after ONE FC publicly announced her fight against Hemetsberger.
