Weeks before the 2019 FIBA World Cup, the Yeng Guiao-led Pilipinas team buckled up for a training camp in Spain.
Still incomplete with a couple of players still playing in the PBA finals, the squad flew with hopes of better chemistry and added grit and toughness.
From Madrid, Gilas traveled to Guadalajara and will play Congo and Ivory Coast in separate games.
After their tune-ups in Guadalajara, the PH squad will head back to Madrid and proceed to Malaga to face Congo again in a pocket tournament.
The winner of the game will face the winner between Ivory Coast and Spain.
The tune-up games will be a good opportunity for Gilas to gauge the team’s confidence and chemistry.
If they make it to the pocket tournament’s finals, Gilas will have the chance to play against NBA-caliber players like Ricky Rubio, Marc Gasol and Pau Gasol.
