The International Basketball Federation (FIBA) will try to come up with the most convenient schedule of games after the COVID-19 crisis disrupted their flow of tournaments.
The Basketball Champions League, the Basketball Champions League Americas, Basketball Africa League, and the FIBA Asia Cup Qualifiers will be having a change in schedule after most of the games were suspended due to the pandemic.
Last March 12, FIBA became the first international sporting body to suspend all of its operations just when the COVID-19 pandemic started to hit worldwide.
The extreme safety measures that FIBA held since their announcement of postponing the games are only for the best of all the country’s finest athletes, said FIBA President Hamane Niang.
Niang also expressed that his FIBA family is helping him do his job easier than it was supposed to be, dealing with all the sub-leagues and the major leagues under FIBA and working out the best possible way to ease the tournament formats in the next months.
“In the coming weeks, a decision will be made regarding the Basketball Champions League, the Basketball Champions League Americas and the Basketball Africa League, after consultation with the respective leagues and clubs. The same applies to our international competitions suspended at sub-Zone level,” added Niang.
