BACOLOD CITY – A heated argument turned deadly when a father allegedly stabbed his son to death at their home in Barangay Malingin, Bago City, Negros Occidental, on Sunday night.
Police identified the victim as 25-year-old Christian Earl Pablito.
Police Staff Master Sgt. Erwin Jamandre said the incident began when Pablito and his 19-year-old sister argued after he complained about the lack of food when he arrived home.
Their 60-year-old father, who had come home under the influence of alcohol, became irritated when he saw the two arguing, according to Jamandre.
Instead of de-escalating the situation, Pablito reportedly turned his anger toward his father and allegedly threatened him.
Pablito also punched his father, causing him to fall.
Seeing an opportunity, the father allegedly grabbed a knife from the kitchen and stabbed his son in the lower right chest.
Pablito was declared dead at the hospital.
The weapon was recovered from the scene.
The father voluntarily surrendered to barangay watchmen and was later turned over to the police, Jamandre said.
The suspect’s wife, who had just arrived from Iloilo, reportedly decided not to pursue charges against her husband.
