Father, daughter arrested in PHP 1.5M shabu bust

A father and his daughter were arrested following a police anti-narcotics operation on the early evening of Jan. 6 in Jaro, Iloilo City.

Police identified the suspects only as alias Boss, 50, and alias Inday, 32, both residents of Alta Tierra Village in Barangay Balabago, Jaro.

Operatives of the Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit 6 also arrested Inday’s boyfriend, identified as alias Ritchie, 37.

Police said the suspects allegedly conspired to sell a sachet of suspected shabu worth PHP 12,000 during the operation.

Authorities seized an additional 14 sachets and three knot-tied plastic bags containing suspected shabu.

RPDEU-6 Deputy Chief Maj. Marvin Villanueva said the confiscated drugs weighed about 225 grams and had an estimated standard drug price of PHP 1,530,000.

Villanueva said Boss was the primary target of the operation.

He said Inday and her partner allegedly assisted Boss by contacting customers and directing them to their residence.

“We’re checking if they used their house as a drug den,” Villanueva said.

Police said Boss and Inday were previously arrested for a drug-related offense in 2019 and were released from jail in 2023.

The three suspects are detained and will face charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
