BACOLOD CITY — A farmer faces two charges after police confiscated P426,088 worth of suspected shabu and a firearm in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Prosperidad, San Carlos City, Negros Occidental, last Tuesday.
Police Captain Honey Labaro, deputy chief of San Carlos City Police Station, said the 43-year-old suspect had been under surveillance for almost three weeks following reports of his alleged illegal activities.
Recovered from the suspect were 62.66 grams of suspected shabu, a .45 caliber pistol, a magazine, two live rounds of ammunition, and P300 in marked money.
Labaro described the suspect as a high-value target due to the significant volume of drugs recovered.
Authorities are investigating how the farmer obtained the firearm without proper documents.
The suspect will be charged with illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition, and the sale and illegal possession of dangerous drugs.
