ROXAS CITY, Capiz – A farmer died after he suffocated while cleaning a water well Wednesday afternoon, June 14, at Barangay Apero, Tapaz, Capiz.
Police identified the victim as Paul Galagate of Barangay Cristina also in Tapaz town.
Investigation by Tapaz Municipal Police Station indicated that Galagate went down the 10-meter deep well owned by Roel Garbosa to clean and clear the lumpy soil inside.
But his colleague Rolly Garbosa noticed that Galagate lost consciousness, prompting him to rescue the latter.
But Garbosa also suffered from difficulty in breathing that he also called for help from the water well owner.
Galagate was taken to the Tapaz District Hospital but he was declared dead on arrival while Garbosa was confined in the same hospital for observation.
