BACOLOD City – Police are mulling filing murder charges against three persons tagged in the death of a farmer at Sitio Manlawaan, Barangay Bulwangan, Hinoba-an, Negros Occidental last Wednesday.
The victim was identified as Cerilo Tarino, 51, of the said village.
Police Major Ramel Bustamante, town police chief, said that Tarino and the suspects identified as Eddie Garbellion, his son, Nelson Garbellion, and their brother/son-in-law Jommel Delo Santos, all residents of Barangay Asia, were having a drinking session when a heated argument ensued between them.
Based on the investigation, Delos Santos allegedly struck the victim with a bottle of beer in the head. When the victim fell to the ground, Eddie allegedly stabbed him with a knife, hitting his left shoulder.
Bustamante said the victim and the suspects had no previous misunderstanding that could trigger the incident, thus they consider it a case of drunkenness that ended in violence.
“Hinubog lang gid,” he added.
Bustamante said the suspects are still at large.
