Farmer shot, hacked, stabbed to death

BACOLOD City – A farmer was killed by three persons due to old grudges at Purok Masinadyahon, Barangay Tampalon, Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental last Sunday.

The victim was identified as Romeo Juanico, 38, of Barangay Camingawan.

Police Lieutenant Jomel Salarda, deputy police chief of Kabankalan City Police Station, said Juanico went to the area to meet someone when he was sighted by the suspects.

The suspects identified as a certain “Bernard,” 44, his brother, a certain “Dodong,” 60, and their uncle, a certain “Rodrigo,” 52, all residents of Barangay Tampalon, then blocked the victim’s path.

Armed with a .45 caliber, “Bernard” allegedly shot the victim several times in the head.

When the victim fell to the ground, the two other suspects who were armed with a jungle knife allegedly hacked and stabbed him.

The suspects then fled, while the victim was declared dead on arrival at a hospital.

Salarda said they are looking for the victim’s companion, who might have witnessed the incident.
