ROXAS CITY, Capiz – A 40-year-old farmer was shot dead by a fellow farmer Thursday morning over a land dispute.
Niño Legaspi of Brgy. Bunga Mambusao, Capiz was declared dead on arrival at Mambusao District Hospital in Mambusao town after he was shot by Alfredo Llanto, 55, also of the said village.
Police investigation indicated that Legaspi confronted Llanto who was ploughing the disputed property.
The confrontation led to a heated argument until Llanto retrieved a 12-gauge shotgun and shot the victim on the chest.
The suspect hurriedly fled but he was arrested by the police in a hot pursuit operation.
Meanwhile, one person died while two others were injured in a road mishap Thursday at Brgy. Manhoy Dao, Capiz.
Felizardo Salazar of Brgy. Nagba Cuartero Capiz was declared dead on arrival at Dao District Hospital.
Police investigation indicated that Salazar was driving his motorcycle when he sideswiped Maria Cristina Claros of Bagong Barrio Caloocan City.
Because of the strong impact, the motorcycle crashed into a multi cab driven by Leonardo Fayo of Santa Cruz, Dumalag town.
Fayo was also injured in the incident.
