The police identified the victim as Ireneo Yesca Jr. who succumbed to fatal gunshot wounds on his head and left side of his leg.
The suspect was Yesca’s brother-in-law Roldan Castromayor, 37.
The victim was declared dead on arrival in a hospital in Iloilo City.
Investigation by the Tapaz Municipal Police Station indicated that an old land dispute might be the motive for the incident.
According to Police Senior Master Sargeant Garde of the Tapaz Police, barangay officials summoned the duo to settle their dispute over a piece of land they tilled. But both ignored the summons.
Police are still looking for Castromayor who fled.
