Farmer shot dead after Tapaz confrontation

ROXAS CITY, Capiz — A farmer died after he was shot Sunday morning, June 14, at Sitio Balagtason, Barangay San Nicolas, Tapaz.
Police identified the victim as alias Rog, 40, of Barangay San Nicolas.
Police said the incident happened around 11 a.m. while the victim was on his way home from a mini public market in Barangay San Nicolas on his motorcycle.
When he reached the house of alias Dan, 28, the victim, who was allegedly under the influence of liquor, shouted unsavory words at him.
A confrontation ensued, and the victim allegedly kicked the door of the suspect’s house.
The suspect went out of the house with a .45-caliber firearm and shot the victim several times, police said.
Personnel from the Bureau of Fire Protection brought the victim to Tapaz District Hospital for treatment, but he was declared dead on arrival by the attending doctor.
The suspect fled in an unknown direction and is the subject of a police manhunt.
