A farmer remains at large after he allegedly shot his uncle while in the middle of a liquor drinking binge late evening of July 17, 2022 in Bingawan, Iloilo.
Members of the Bingawan Municipal Police Station are still on manhunt operations against Reggie Catanyag, a resident of Sitio Cubay, Barangay Poblacion, Bingawan.
His uncle, Efren Cadaydayon, 59, of Barangay Quinar-upan, Bingawan, is already in stable condition following the incident.
According to police reports, the duo came from a wake and decided to drink liquor at the house of Cadaydayon’s neighbor in Quinar-upan village.
Lieutenant Ryan Christ Inot, Bingawan police chief, said things looked good at the start until the duo talked about some family concerns.
“Dahil parehong lasing, nagkainitan sila,” he said.
It was during their argument that Catanyag got hold of a 12-gauge shotgun and shot his uncle.
Cadaydayon was hit on the left side of his abdomen and was rushed to Calinog District Hospital.
He was subsequently referred to West Visayas State University Medical Center in Iloilo City where he remains in confinement.
