BACOLOD CITY – A family dispute turned fatal when a man was shot and killed by his younger brother in Barangay Bi-ao, Binalbagan, Negros Occidental, on Monday.
Police identified the victim as 41-year-old Elmer Estrelloso.
Police Major Jun Ray Batadlan, Binalbagan police chief, said the brothers were in a heated argument that escalated into a physical struggle.
During the altercation, the victim allegedly drew a firearm, leading to a grapple over the weapon.
The 28-year-old suspect reportedly managed to seize the firearm and allegedly fired multiple shots, striking the victim in the neck, chest, abdomen, and lower back, Batadlan said.
The victim was pronounced dead at a hospital.
Recovered from the scene were a spent shell and a cartridge from a .45-caliber firearm.
Batadlan said the suspect was released from police custody yesterday after the family chose not to pursue charges.
