An 84-year-old farmer is facing a criminal complaint after he allegedly shot the house of their village official in Dingle, Iloilo shortly early morning of May 13, 2022.
Ludovico Diente, a resident of Barangay Calicuang, Dingle, was charged for illegal discharge of firearm before the Iloilo Provincial Prosecutors Office on Friday.
Armed with an unknown caliber of firearm, the suspect allegedly went to the house Barangay Captain George Jayawon around 12:45 a.m. of Friday.
At that time, the 57-year-old Jayawon was inside their house.
A witness claimed seeing Diente firing a gun at the village official’s house.
Recovered from the scene of incident was an ammunition shell of still unknown gun caliber.
Executive Master Sergeant Alejandro Loretiso of Dingle Municipal Police Station said the suspect was arrested in a hot pursuit operation.
No firearm was recovered in his possession.
According to police investigators, the suspect harbored ill feelings against the village official after the latter allegedly failed to act on his complaint.
Diente allegedly wanted to reclaim a lot he allegedly sold to his cousin.
Because the case was deemed moot and academic, Jayawon did not act on the complaint.
Diente is now detained for proper disposition of his case.
