A 55-year-old farmer and his nephew died of suspected electrocution in Oton, Iloilo.
The bodies of the victims, identified only as Joaquin, 55, and his nephew Philip, were found around 7 a.m. on November 28 in Sitio Manue, Barangay Tagbac Sur.
Barangay tanods discovered the two lying on the ground while still holding a severed electrical wire.
According to Joaquin’s wife, their household lost electricity around 6 p.m. on Thursday.
Captain Lunellyn Talamillo, deputy chief of the Oton police, said the couple checked with neighbors and confirmed there was no power outage in the area.
Joaquin inspected their connection and found that a wire leading to their house had been cut.
He returned home after realizing he did not have the proper tools.
At around 9:30 p.m., he went back to the site with his nephew to repair the line.
Authorities believe both were electrocuted while attempting to fix the connection.
