BACOLOD CITY – A 65-year-old farmer and his 47-year-old nephew died following a violent altercation in Sitio Kuli-Kuli, Barangay Mabunao, Bais City, Negros Oriental, on Thursday.
Police Corporal Rechuel Adalia, assistant investigator at Bais City Police Station, said the older man had gone to visit his son—who lives near the suspect—when he encountered his nephew acting aggressively.
The nephew was reportedly armed with a bolo and was provoking people in the area.
Adalia said the uncle tried to calm him down but was suddenly attacked.
Despite being wounded, the uncle managed to wrestle the weapon away and retaliated.
Both sustained multiple hack wounds during the confrontation.
The younger man died on the spot, while his uncle was declared dead at the hospital.
The suspect’s mother told police her son had been displaying signs of unstable behavior and occasional aggression.
Police also confirmed prior reports from community members regarding the suspect’s erratic actions, although none involved physical violence until this incident.
Adalia said tensions may have escalated when the uncle confronted his nephew about his behavior, triggering the violent attack.
