A farmer who was the subject of numerous complaints from his neighbor in Panitan, Capiz was arrested early morning of June 28.
Roger Amoroso, 45, a resident of Barangay Cabangahan, Panitan, was collared in a firearm raid.
Members of the Panitan Municipal Police Station, together with the Capiz Police Provincial Office – Provincial Intelligence Unit and the 1st Capiz Provincial Mobile Force Company, swooped down on Amoroso’s house in the mountainous village of Cabangahan around 5:40 a.m. Wednesday.
Police operatives conducted the search by virtue of Search Warrant No. 25-2023 issued by Executive Judge Esperanza Isabela E. Poco-Deslate of the Regional Trial Court Branch 19, Roxas City, Capiz, issued on June 26, 2023.
Police recovered two air guns, a caliber .380 Llama pistol, a caliber .9mm Norinco pistol, a 12-gauge shotgun, three magazines, and several ammunition and empty shells for different caliber of firearms.
Staff Sergeant Mark Rendon, Panitan police investigator, said Amoroso was subjected to the operation following several complaints of gun-poking incidents.
He also allegedly fired his guns in several instances.
Authorities have yet to determine why he kept a cache of guns but there were reports claiming that he was a member of a rebel group.
Amoroso will be charged for violation of Republic Act 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act).
