Persistent reports against a farmer for allegedly brandishing his firearm led policemen to search his house in Mina, Iloilo Monday morning.
The gun raid resulted in the arrest of 49-year-old Reynaldo Quimba of Barangay Amiroy, Mina.
Regional Mobile Force Battalion 6 (RFMB-6) and Mina Police Station led the operation by virtue of Search Warrant No. 20-183 issued by Regional Trial Court Judge Domingo Casiple Jr.
The Monday morning raid led to the recovery of a homemade 12-gauge shotgun loaded with ammunition.
Lieutenant Gina Fernandez, Mina police chief, said they learned that Quimba was keeping an unlicensed gun following reports from concerned citizens.
He was also accused of harassing individuals in the area.
Meanwhile, another man was also arrested for possessing an unlicensed firearm.
Ronnie Moreno, 51, a resident of Barangay Mat-y, Miag-ao, Iloilo, was apprehended after he was accused of illegal gun discharge.
Miag-ao cops responded to the area after residents reported gunfire in the area.
When police officers arrived, Moreno turned over his caliber .37 revolver with an unfired cartridge and two fired cartridges inside the cylinder.
Both Quimba and Moreno are now detained and will be charged for violation of Republic Act 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act).
