A farmer was arrested years after he went into hiding for allegedly molesting an underage relative.
Rogen Castor, 31, a resident of Barangay Garangan, Calinog, Iloilo, was arrested morning of Aug 17, 2022 at Barangay Poblacion, Tapaz, Capiz.
Members of Bingawan Municipal Police Station arrested Castor for rape in relation to Republic Act 7610 (Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act) docketed as Criminal Case No. 15-1549-04
Judge Judith D. Orendain-Tonogbanua of the Regional Trial Court Branch 20 in Mambusao, Capiz issued the arrest.
No bail was recommended for his temporary liberty.
The rape incident allegedly happened in Bingawan, Iloilo in 2015 when the complainant was still a teenager.
Lieutenant Ryan Christ Inot, Bingawan police chief, said they recently received information about the suspect’s presence in Tapaz town.
“He was apparently planning to join the New People’s Army. He was spotted in Barangay Lahug, a far-flung village in Tapaz,” Inot said.
But police spoiled Castor’s plan to become a full-fledged rebel by arresting him.
Instead of trudging the mountains, the suspect is now confined to the four corners of his detention cell.
