A farmer accused of murder was arrested Tuesday in Sta. Barbara, Iloilo.
Members of Sta. Barbara Police Station collared Fernando Suarez, 49, at his house in Barangay Bagumbayan 12:55 p.m. yesterday.
Police Major Raymond Celoso, Sta. Barbara police chief, said Suarez was the subject of an arrest warrant in Criminal Case No. 20-851420.
Regional Trial Court Branch 22 Judge Redentor Esperanza issued the warrant with no bail.
Suarez was charged for murder after he allegedly stabbed 26-year-old Jolly James Billones on Nov. 16, 2019
The incident happened after the suspect took a short cut by the victim’s house when he went to a funeral wake.
This sparked a heated argument between the two until the suspect pulled out a knife and stabbed the victim.
The suspect was not immediately arrested after he fled.
