BACOLOD CITY – Police are suspecting the son of a farmer as a possible perpetrator behind the killing of a 73-year-old farmer due to personal grudges in Sitio Talave, Barangay Punao, San Carlos City, Negros Occidental on Monday.
Authorities identified the victim as Cresencio, a resident of Calatrava town.
Investigation disclosed that the victim disembarked from a passenger jeepney from Calatrava town and seated beside the road in the area, when two unidentified motorcycle-riding persons arrived and shot him multiple times.
The victim succumbed to gunshot wounds to his diaphragm and face, police said.
Recovered from the scene was a slug of an unknown firearm.
Police Corporal Jesrel Gotera, case investigator of San Carlos City Police Station, said the victim was supposed to buy anahaw leaves in the city when the incident happened past 6 a.m.
Although the motive is still under probe, Gotera noted the victim and his son had previous altercations about their family leading to personal grudges that could be linked to the incident.
Gotera said they already have persons of interest.
