The bullet-riddled body of a farmer was found early Monday morning in a sugarcane plantation in San Enrique, Iloilo.
A passerby stumbled upon 33-year-old Ronald Babao of Barangay Abaca, San Enrique at around 5 am Monday
Major Gilbert Baldevarona, San Enrique police chief, said the victim suffered gunshot injuries on his eyes, left armpit, and chest.
The victim was last seen alive around 8 pm Sunday. He allegedly left a friend’s house following a drinking session.
But Babao’s live-in partner said he did not make it home.
Baldevarona said they had initially three persons of interest.
“But we deemed that the two had nothing to do with the case,” he said.
The remaining person of interest had the motive in killing Babao, the victim’s live-in partner told police investigator.
Babao and the unnamed persons had a falling out prior to the incident.
“But he’s not on police custody. No case was also filed against him,” Baldevarona said.
As they are conducting thorough investigation on the case, the San Enrique police investigators are appealing to witnesses or anyone with relevant information to help them in their probe.
