Farmers of Brgy. Binubuhan in Bago City, Negros Occidental can now easily transport their agricultural products to the market with the concrete road implemented by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), Negros Occidental 4th District Engineering Office.
In his report to DPWH-6 Regional Director (RD) Lea N. Delfinado, District Engineer Genaro M. Panganiban said the 640-meter farm-to-market road in Brgy. Binubuhan in Bago City is already paved into a 5-meter wide, 2-lane Portland Concrete Cement Pavement (PCCP).
The ₱9.63-million project also includes provision of slope protection such as grouted riprap for protection of the road.
Delfinado said the improved road will provide a seamless transportation system, benefiting roughly 200 families in the said barangay, who are mostly farmers and planters who strive hard to earn a living.
“With this concrete road, farmers can now easily deliver their farm products to the markets, hence could save them time and expenses in the transport of goods, thus, helping them earn more for their families,” Delfinado said.
Apart from providing faster access for transport of goods from farms to the market, the concrete road will also provide a more convenient travel of motorists and commuters and faster delivery of basic government services even to far flung communities in the province. (DPWH-6/RPAIO)
