The Farm Fresh Foxies swept the Capital1 Solar Spikers, 25-20, 25-15, 25-21, to book a quarterfinal slot in the ongoing Premier Volleyball League (PVL) On Tour on August 2, 2025, at the Dasmariñas Arena in Cavite.
Coming off a disappointing 0-3 loss at the hands of the NXLED Chameleons, Farm Fresh vented its ire on the Solar Spikers to salvage a ticket in the PVL Playoffs, setting up a quarterfinal duel against the Creamline Cool Smashers.
Farm Fresh dropped the hammer from the get-go and didn’t give any room to breathe for Capital1 after locking up the middle area with their great blocking reads.
Aside from their middle blockers’ amped up defensive tenacity, the Foxies also limited Capital1’s point production with a better floor coverage than their performance against the Chameleons.
With those two departments working wonders for Farm Fresh, the Solar Spikers had to improvise on the offensive end, a thing that cost them as a series of unforced errors steered the Foxies to an early 1-0 lead.
Things didn’t fall Capital1’s way in the following set, as Farm Fresh was able to dictate the pace and pick up where they left off courtesy of Trisha Tubu’s dominance on her cross-court attacks.
Backstopping Tubu during that massive second-quarter outburst was veteran outside hitter Caitlin Viray who held the fort for Farm Fresh when Capital1 staged a 5-1 scoring run to inch close.
Just when Farm Fresh thought that the victory would be a walk in the park, the Solar Spikers woke up midway through the third frame and erased the Foxies’ 15-7 advantage with a 10-1 scoring rally.
After that sequence, Capital1 suddenly stole the driver’s seat and grabbed a narrow 17-16 cushion that put the pressure back on Farm Fresh.
Fortunately for the Foxies, the trio of Lorene Toring, Jolina Dela Cruz, and Tubu weathered the storm with their much-needed timely hits that arrested their offensive drought.
Toring answered the call when Farm Fresh needed her the most, scoring back-to-back hits while tallying a crucial block to put the Foxies back on the lead.
The duo of Dela Cruz and Tubu then did their work, closing out the game for the Foxies with unanswered overkill spikes to formalize their quarterfinal appearance.
Tubu spearheaded Farm Fresh’s 3-0 victory with 15 points built from nine successful attacks alongside four blocks and two service aces.
Meanwhile, Viray, who made a big impact during Farm Fresh’s second-set rally, provided 11 markers and nine excellent receptions.
Farm Fresh will still have plenty of days to prepare against the Cool Smashers as both clubs are scheduled to meet for their quarterfinal showdown on August 9, 2025, at the Philsports Arena.
