The family of the slain foodpanda rider Joemar Sanchez received financial assistance from the Iloilo City government on Wednesday, April 21, 2021.
Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas personally handed over the check amounting to P50,000 to the bereaved family of Sanchez.
Sanchez’s sister Daisy and wife Chona received the assistance at the Iloilo City Hall.
Treñas said he is hoping that the small amount can help the family start anew after the incident.
“Gusto ko guid mabuligan ang pamilya nga nabilin ni Joemar Sanchez, isa ka delivery rider nga ginluthang samtang nagapaninguha sa pag-ubra para sa iya pamilya. I am hoping that this small amount can help his family start anew,” he said in a statement.
Sanchez was shot dead by Argie Solis, a security guard over a petty argument while the former was about to deliver food to his customer last March 31, 2021 in City Proper district, Iloilo City.
The victim, who was also the bread winner of the family, left behind his one-year-old daughter.
The mayor has strongly condemned the incident as he opposes any form of violence in the city. (ERS)
