‘Falcon’ crop damage pegged at P7.1M

BACOLOD City – Tropical Storm “Falcon” damaged an estimated P7.1 million worth of crops in Negros Occidental.

Data released by the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist on July 18, 2019 indicated that the towns of San Enrique, Valladolid, and Bago City were most affected by Falcon’s onslaught.

A total of 399.50 hectares of farmland were damaged in Valladolid, wherein around 279 farmers were affected and damages estimated at P2.6 million.

The neighboring town of San Enrique reported 276.56 hectares of rice fields were damaged, valued at around P1.5 million.

Bago City reported that P2.9 million worth of crops in 416.14 hectares of farmland were also destroyed.
