BACOLOD CITY — Police are investigating whether the fatal stabbing of an 84-year-old man on Wednesday may be linked to his work as a faith healer in E.B. Magalona, Negros Occidental.
Police Master Sgt. Henry Mangana III said the victim, identified only as “Bay,” and his 67-year-old wife were sleeping when two unidentified persons wearing bonnets entered their house around dawn in Barangay 1 and allegedly stabbed him.
The victim sustained multiple stab wounds and was declared dead at a hospital.
His wife also sustained minor injuries to her hand when she tried to stop the attackers, according to Mangana.
Mangana said the victim had no police record.
Police are also looking into whether someone may have harbored anger or a grudge against the victim.
Authorities have yet to identify the perpetrators, who appeared to have specifically targeted the victim and planned the attack.
Mangana said police had limited information as of press time and were giving the victim’s wife space as she mourned her husband.
“We give respect to the wife who is mourning,” he added.
