BACOLOD City – The Negros Oriental Provincial Police Office (Norppo) is probing the killing of a former government official in Pamplona town.
Former Vice Mayor Kent Zerna Divinagracia was gunned down at Barangay Poblacion on Wednesday night.
Chief Master Sergeant Edelberto Euroba III, Norppo’s public information officer, said Divinagracia was riding a vehicle on his way home around 8:40 p.m. when two unidentified motorcycle-riding armed men fired at his vehicle.
The gunmen then fled leaving Divinagracia with gunshot wounds. He was taken to a hospital where he was declared dead.
Euroba said the victim had not reported any threats on him prior to the killing.
He served as a town councilor and had worked as a civil security officer.
Euroba said police have yet to determine the motive behind the gun attack.
