ROXAS CITY, Capiz – A former soldier of the Philippine Army was arrested by police Wednesday for possessing a hand grenade at Barangay Alipasiawan, Dumarao, Capiz.
The police identified the suspect as Mamerto Jimeno, 56, and resident of said place.
Investigation by the Dumarao Municipal Police Station indicated that a concerned citizen called the police station and informed authorities about a drunken man carrying a hand grenade.
Jimeno is presently detained at the police station while charges for violation of Republic Act 9516 (illegal manufacture, sales, possession of firearms and explosives) were filed against him.
Meanwhile, a 27-year-old person wanted for the crimes of serious physical injuries and less serious physical injuries and damage to properties was arrested Thursday afternoon in Poblacion Ilawod in Banwa sang Dao.
Rodel Protacio, 27, of Barangay Malonoy Dao town did not resist when the police served the warrant for his arrest. He is presently detained at Dao police station.
The court recommended an P8,000 bail for his temporary liberty.
