ROXAS CITY, Capiz — A former Sangguniang Kabataan kagawad who also works as an online seller was arrested in a buy-bust operation conducted by the Mambusao Municipal Police Station led by Police Maj. Ruby Magallanes on Friday evening, April 10, in Barangay Atiplo, Mambusao, Capiz.
Police identified the suspect as Edilyn Balad-on, 34, a resident of Barangay Poblacion Tabuc, Mambusao, Capiz.
Recovered from the suspect were two sachets of suspected shabu weighing 3 grams with an estimated street value of PHP 15,000, a motorcycle, and PHP 1,500 in buy-bust money.
The suspect denied involvement in the illegal drug trade but admitted using illegal drugs as treatment for depression.
She also said she had been planning to run for board member in Capiz’s second district before her arrest in the buy-bust operation.
Police said they monitored and conducted surveillance on the suspect for three months before carrying out the operation.
Charges for violating Republic Act No. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, will be filed against her.
