BACOLOD City – The body of a former member of the New People’s Army (NPA) was found at Sitio Lumboy, Barangay Caliling, Cauayan, Negros Occidental last Friday.
The victim was identified by the police as Fernando Quines Sr., 60, of the said village.
Major Lowell Garinganao, town police chief, said the victim was found lying on the ground beside the pathway going to his farm.
He had gunshot wounds in his face, neck, and left shoulder.
Police recovered from the scene two empty shells of .45-caliber ammunition.
Meanwhile, an elderly man was also found dead in a river at Barangay Talacdan in the said town that day.
Amado Soreño, 84, of the said village was crossing the river on his way home on October 21, when he was swept away by the river current, police records showed.
His family searched for him the following day after he failed to go home.
The victim’s body was seen floating in the river last Friday.
