THREE former high-ranking officials of Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) were honored for their efforts before, during, and after the 6-month Boracay Island rehabilitation.
Police Major General Cesar Hawthorne Binag, retired Brig. Gen. John Bulalacao, and Brig. Gen. Jesus Cambay, Jr. received Special Individual Awards “for their noble contribution in the six-month rehabilitation program of country’s crown jewel Boracay and ensuring security and peace and order as a safe tourist destination in the world.”
Binag and Bulalacao were former PRO-6 regional directors while Cambay, then PRO-6 deputy regional director for administration, was the commander of Metro Boracay Police Task Force (MBPTF).
Binag is now the director of the Directorate for Information and Communications Technology Management (DICTM) while Cambay is currently the PNP Secretary of Directorial Staff.
They received the award during the national celebration of the 118th Police Service Anniversary held at the PNP National Headquarters at Camp Crame on Aug. 9, 2019.
President Rodrigo Duterte led the anniversary rites.
During Duterte’s 4th State of the Nation Address (SONA) on July 22, 2019, one of the most applauded statements he made was when he commended Environment Secretary Roy Cimatu’s efforts relative to the Boracay rehabilitation project.
This year’s Police Service Anniversary celebrated adopted the theme: “Pinaghusay na Serbisyo, Alay sa Sambayanang Pilipino” in commemoration of nearly twelve decades of the Philippine Police Service that traces its roots to the insular police force at the turn of the century in 1901.
