BACOLOD City – Police are looking into land conflict as possible motive behind the killing of a former military asset at Barangay Canlusong, E.B. Magalona, Negros Occidental last Saturday.
The victim was identified as Roger Libre, 46, of Sitio Tayap, Barangay Patag, Silay City.
Captain Eric Doronilla, E.B. Magalona town police chief, said Libre’s body was found the following day.
The victim suffered multiple gunshot wounds from unidentified perpetrators.
Due to the insurgency threat in the area, Doronilla said that police had difficulty going to the area.
But according to the victim’s family, Libre was previously warned not to stay at Trinity in Barangay Canlusong.
“May warning na siya dati sa babaw na indi mangayaw panguma didto pero nagtukod siya payag,” Doronilla said.
Doronilla said they also do not discount the possibility that it could be insurgency-related because of his background.
