Ex-marine nabbed for explosive, gun possession

ROXAS CITY, Capiz – A former member of the Philippine Marines was arrested Friday morning after a raid on his house at Barangay Acbo, Sigma, Capiz.
Police identified the suspect as Jeazer Juare Geronimo, 38, of said village.
Captain Dennis Losbañes, Sigma PNP chief, said the operation was carried out after they received information that Geronimo was possessing an unlicensed firearm and explosive which he used to threaten residents.
Recovered during the raid were 9mm- and 45-caliber pistols, an M16 rifle with three magazines and ammunitions, three M2O3 fragmentation grenades, a pouch, three empty shells of caliber 40 fragmentation grenade, and two M2O3 pistol case.
The search warrant was issued by Judge Judith Orendain-Tonogbanua of the Regional Trial Court in Mambusao, Capiz on December 5, 2023.
Charges for violation of Republic Act 10591 or Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act and Republic Act 9516 or Illegal Possession of Explosives Act of 2008 will be filed against Geronimo, who is detained at the Sigma MPS.
