A former village official was arrested in another police anti-narcotics operation late morning of Dec. 8 in Pototan, Iloilo.
Alias Paeng, 52, a former barangay kagawad of Barasan, Pototan, was collared in a buy-bust operation at his home.
Members of the Pototan Municipal Police Station apprehended the suspect after he was found in possession of 80 grams of suspected shabu.
Police Major Bryan Alamo, Pototan police chief, valued the seized drugs at PHP 544,000.
As with most previous operations, Paeng’s arrest followed multiple reports from concerned individuals about his alleged involvement in the illegal drug trade.
He was placed under surveillance for two weeks before the sting operation was carried out.
According to reports, the suspect sourced his supply from Iloilo City and distributed it in Pototan.
Alamo added that the suspect is a Tokhang surrenderer.
Paeng is now in detention and will be charged with violating Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
