BACOLOD City – A man and his alleged cohort were arrested by police in a buy-bust operation at Purok Kabulakan 2, Barangay Singcang-Airport here last Monday.
Police identified the subject as Alexander Guevarra, 44, of Barangay 35 here, while his companion was Jonathan Jara, 43, of Barangay Singcang-Airport.
Both are “street level” individuals who allegedly yielded 25 grams of suspected shabu worth P170,000, and the P1,000 marked money, according to the police.
Captain Melvin Mercado, head of Police Station 8, said they launched the operation against Guevarra after previously arrested drug suspects identified him as their alleged source of illegal drugs.
Mercado said that Guevarra allegedly returned to engaging in the illegal drug trade following his release from jail for a drug offense last year.
He added that they conducted a casing and surveillance against the subject for almost two weeks.
Mercado said that an improvised firearm with three live ammunition of a 5.56 caliber firearm was also recovered from Jara.
He said that charges for sale and illegal possession of dangerous drugs will be filed against Guevarra, while Jara will be charged for illegal possession of dangerous drugs and illegal possession of firearm and ammunition.
