BACOLOD City – A former councilor in Isabela, Negros Occidental is mulling filing frustrated homicide charges against a man who allegedly stabbed him in a commotion in Barangay 7 last Thursday.
Police Capt. Dante Balenario, deputy chief of Isabela Municipal Police Station, said the victim identified as 56-year-old Sarry Sarimong attended a wake when a misunderstanding ensued between the latter’s friend and the suspect Antonio Lindayao, 37.
Sarimong pacified his friend and Lindayao, but the latter allegedly pulled a gaff, or a metal spur for a gamecock, and stabbed the victim’s abdomen, Balenario said.
Balenario said that Lindayao and Sarimong’s friend were drunk when the incident happened.
Balenario said the suspect also got irked when he alleged that someone punched his head which caused him to fall.
“Abi niya (suspect), pulihan siya so nagdepensa siya kag nag gabot. Wala niya na control self niya, amo to naigo ang biktima,” he added.
The victim was taken to a private hospital here, while the suspect surrendered to Canlaon City Police Station in Negros Oriental and was later turned over to Isabela town police.
Balenario said the suspect went to his sibling in Canlaon to seek his assistance after the incident.
