ROXAS CITY, Capiz – The apartment of a retired police officer rented by another cop and a family was razed to the ground Sunday morning on Mendoza Urban, San Roque Street, Barangay Inzo Arnaldo here.
The house of ex-cop Alexmar Albaran of Barangay Milibili was rented by Police Staff Sergeant Aljon Berdugo and Divina Flaga, 34, of Brgy. Nasunugan Dao, Capiz.
No one was hurt in the conflagration which allegedly started from Flaga’s unit.
Police investigation indicated that the fire erupted while Flaga allegedly cooked balut and penoy (un-hatched chicks).
Flaga lived in one of the apartment units her two children and uncle while the other was rented by Berdugo, a member of Panit-an Municipal Police Station and his wife Juvy, a teacher of Culasi National High School.
The fire did not spread to the neighborhood because of firewalls.
