BACOLOD City – A former policeman died in a road accident at Barangay Alijis here last Sunday.
Killed was Patrolman Aries Jhon Elmission, 30, of Barangay Mansilingan here.
Lieutenant Conrado Espino Jr., head of Police Station 7, said Elmission was driving home when he allegedly crashed into a tricycle driven by Jerome Brose, 26, of Barangay Felisa here.
Espino said Elmission overtook a sports utility vehicle and hit Brose’s tricycle which was being pushed to the roadside after it ran out of gas.
Elmission succumbed to head injuries, the station commander added.
Espino said Elmission was dismissed from police service in December 2018 after he went absent without official leave (AWOL).
Espino said Brose, who was unharmed, was placed in police custody for further investigation but will be released if no charges will be filed against him within the 18-hour reglementary detention period.
