BACOLOD City – Police are looking into grudges as possible motives behind the killing of a former person deprived of liberty (PDL) at Hacienda Lopez, Barangay 10, Victorias City, Negros Occidental last Tuesday.
The victim was identified as Rodel Castor, 45, of the said village.
Police Captain Genus David, deputy chief of Victorias City Police Station, said Castor and his two daughters were on their way to school when two unidentified persons on board a motorcycle waylaid them.
The perpetrators shot the victim in front of his children and fled.
Castor died on the spot, while his children were unharmed.
Prior to the incident, David said that the suspects’ motorcycle was seen by some residents in the area.
Castor was probably being monitored by the suspect, the deputy chief added.
David said the victim was previously convicted of homicide and was released from the National Bilibid Prison (NBP) in Muntinlupa City in 2010.
He said they also received information that the victim was allegedly involved in some theft incidents, but such is subject to validation.
