An ex-convict was rearrested for a related offense after finding himself on the wrong side of the law once more. Dan, 41, from Sara, Iloilo, was taken into custody in Barangay Poblacion, Carles, Iloilo at approximately 10:34 a.m. on March 21.
The arrest was executed by members of the Carles Municipal Police Station, assisted by other police operatives, who apprehended the suspect for robbery with rape as outlined in Criminal Case No. 2021-9814.
The arrest warrant, issued by Judge Oscar Leo A. Billena of the Regional Trial Court 6 (RTC-6), Branch 70 in Barotac Viejo, Iloilo on March 17, 2024, specified no bail for the suspect’s temporary release.
Major Harold Rendora, the Carles police chief, stated that the suspect ranks as the fifth most wanted person in Western Visayas.
The underlying incident occurred after the suspect participated in a drinking spree at a store in Sara town. He is accused of forcibly entering the store, stealing the complainant’s mobile phone, and sexually assaulting her.
The suspect has a prior conviction for rape when he was younger and served time in the New Bilibid Prison, being released in 2007.
Dan is currently detained and awaiting the resolution of his case.
