Ex-convict, pal fall in drug bust

ROXAS CITY, Capiz –– An ex-convict and his pal were arrested in a drug buy-bust operation late Friday afternoon at Costa Verde Subdivision in Brgy. Cagay here.

The Station Drug Enforcement Team (SDET) of the Roxas City PNP led by Police Lt. Col. Dante Tayco collared Ervin Klein Dorado, 24, of Malipayon, Brgy. Tiza here and Johan Patrick Dequiña, 40, of Costa Verde here.

Recovered from the suspects were four sachets of suspected shabu, P500 marked money, two cellular phones, a case of cigarettes and one motorcycle.

The suspected shabu weighed more or less one gram and valued at P13,500.

The suspects denied they were into the illegal drug trade saying they only went out to buy cigarettes but got surprised when police arrested them.

Dequina added that the police went inside the house without a search warrant and even mauled them.

According to the police, Dorado was arrested for illegal drugs in 2014 and was released from detention in 2016 after his case was dismissed by the court.

Dequina was arrested for the same offense last year but was released from prison on March 2, 2019 due to a plea bargaining agreement.

The two are detained at the Roxas City police station while charges for violations of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002) will be filed against them today, May 27, 2019.
