ROXAS CITY, Capiz – A man found dead early on February 14 was confirmed to be an ex-convict.
Police Lt. Col. Lumyaen Lidawan, Roxas City Police Station chief, said on February 17 that the victim, identified as Rio Posadas Borleo, 45, was released from prison on December 30, 2024, after serving eight years at the New Bilibid Prison in Muntinlupa for rape.
Criminology students discovered his body at Cablatan Bridge in Barangay Dayao, with gunshot wounds to the abdomen, back, jaw, and ear.
The victim was positively identified by his brother, Raffy Borleo.
Lidawan said Borleo was a laborer and a resident of Barangay Marita, President Roxas, Capiz.
He was jailed after his live-in partner accused him of rape.
The police chief said Borleo had no criminal record with the Roxas City Police Station, but authorities are verifying whether he was involved in illegal activities elsewhere.
Borleo worked as a laborer at Libas Fishing Port, where he was last seen before he was found dead.
Lidawan urged the public to come forward with any information that could help solve the case and bring justice to the victim.
